Our Story
We're Common Minds, and this is our reality.
Like many parents, we've battled a system failing our neurodiverse child. Despite extensive efforts, we've faced repeated medication failures, leading to devastating emotional and financial tolls. Our child's struggles with self-regulation resulted in destructive outbursts and self-hate.
The system repeatedly failed us. We sought support from pre-K, navigating private therapies and assessments, only to be denied NDIS funding twice, deemed "not impacted day-to-day. " This left us in a cycle of expensive, contradictory assessments and endless waitlists. The system's criteria left our child, and many others, vulnerable to struggling in school and seeking unhealthy coping mechanisms.
Frustrated, we’re building Common Minds, transforming a 1980s horse stable into a regulation space and offering an alternative for children who fall through the cracks. Our goal is to provide a safe environment that meets the needs of those lacking support, regardless of background.
